State Contractor’s Employee Can Sue New Jersey for Discrimination, Court Says
Hundreds of privatized workers in New Jersey correctional facilities might qualify as public employees under the state Law Against Discrimination, thanks to a state court ruling. The Appellate Division ruled that a jury can hear a worker’s hostile workplace claim against the state, based on the nature of the relationship between her employer and the Department of Corrections. The court also reinstated a negligent hiring claim, a ruling that the plaintiff’s attorney says “breaks new ground.”

Despite a yea Assembly committee vote, a state bill that would make ethnic and religious slights actionable will not make it through the N.J. Legislature this session. The bill’s sponsor said that he will take the bill off the table, for reintroduction, because he’s been told that the Senate would not act on the bill this session. The bill is aimed at countering a state appellate court ruling, now before the N.J. Supreme Court, which found no cause of action for a worker taunted by anti-Semitic comments.

If so, do you have the time and money to finance this education? Can you take out loans, take your classes online, or take some time off work to get this education?

Do you need to be certified? If so, a very specific career path has most likely been mapped out and followed. Find out what others in your area have done, where they’ve gone to school, and where to register for the exam to pass your certification. This will save you a considerable amount of time as you research what you need to do.

Are you sure this career is what you want? Is the time and money invested in education and entry level positions worth it to you? Will the job pay enough money to finance the lifestyle you want to live? Are the day to day characteristics of your new career compatible with your temperament and values? Realistically assessing your interests and capabilities could save you years if you are honest and sure that you are choosing your new career for the right reasons.

Why is it that two people who go to register at the same agency one is more successful than the other at getting work? Let’s start with the very first thing. Appearance. A lot of people these days really overlook this basic step in getting work at employment agencies. I, myself have seen people go to agencies in flip-flops which is ridiculous! Personally, another thing I do is when ever I go to pick up a check at an employment agency I go dressed like I am going to work in a suit so that my impression is etched in their minds. Trust me, over 14 years of dealing with employment agencies this one basic thing has gotten me lots of work making salaries of up to $30.00 an hour tops and lowest $22.00 an hour. Dressing appropriately has other advantages also.

They company that you are sent to will also notice and continue to request you over a number of years. Now, you don’t have to go out and buy $500 dollar suits, none of the suits that I have cost over $200. There are many stores in New York like Porta-Bella that have very nice suits for a low price. I have even caught suits at this store on sale for $50 and you would never know it! For men, a tie can make or break a suit also. Many times walking on the streets of New York downtown you will see peddlers selling very nice ties for only $5.00. One day I came across one of these peddlers and brought 4 very nice ties for $20.00.
