Working under a demanding tyrant, we are upbeat with any hint of praise and despondent when the inevitable criticism splashes in our faces.

The pervasiveness of being out of work touches so many parts of our lives: our finances, our family, our egos, and our inner sense of self. Because the anxiety of unemployment reaches to the core of our comfortable lifestyles, we suffer from a changing array of intense emotional ups and downs.

Some kind of emotional balance is necessary if we are to stay healthy, maintain our relationships, and be able to effectively function in job search. Workers Sue Government Over Alleged Tactics in Immigration Raid
Workers at a Minnesota meatpacking plant are suing the U.S. government over the alleged abusive and illegal tactics used during an immigration raid, lawyers said Tuesday. Agents hurled insults at Hispanic workers, ordered female Hispanic workers to disrobe and “otherwise insulted, abused, and humiliated the plaintiffs on account of their race” during a raid at the Swift & Co. plant, says the federal lawsuit by Centro Legal, an immigrant rights group. The 10 plaintiffs continue to work at the plant.

Employment prospects were bright in the Asia Pacific region for the first quarter of 2006 as well as in North America, but it was expected to be an up and down three months for most of Europe, according to news reports on June 29 this year.

This was the conclusion bared by Manpower Inc. following a survey of 23 countries in different continents. The Employment Outlook survey covered 45,000 employers. Overall, it reported that employers in nine or 23 countries and territories were expected to add to their workforces in the first quarter of 2006. On the other hand, it also said that 11 of the 23 countries and territories reported weaker employment prospects compared to the same period in 2005.

The strongest hiring expectations were reported by employers in India, New Zealand, Taiwan, the United States and Australia. In contrast, employers in 14 countries, mostly in Europe, reported weaker employment prospects. The weakest hiring prospects were reported by employers in Germany, Austria and Italy.

In Austria, employers reported a negative Net Employment Outlook (NEO) for the first time since the first quarter of 2004, while employers in Italy have not been this pessimistic since the survey started in that country in the third quarter of 2003. The study conducted over 11,000 interviews across 12 European labor markets to measure anticipated employment trends for the first quarter of 2006.

The survey revealed continued buoyant hiring activity in the USA and Canada.

deal with the studio to 2011, it was announced today by Michael Lynton,

    In addition to her new title, Pascal will continue to serve in her role
as Chairman of the studio’s Motion Picture Group. Lynton remains Chairman
and CEO of the studio, and the two will continue to report to Sir Howard
Stringer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Corporation.
    The move recognizes Pascal’s vast contributions to the company and was
initiated by Lynton, who wanted to formalize the strong relationship he and
Pascal have forged as partners, managing the operations of Sony Pictures.
    “This richly deserved promotion reflects the reality of our partnership
here at Sony Pictures. Ever since Howard brought us together, Amy and I
have been partners in running the studio, and I really wanted our titles to
reflect our teamwork,” said Lynton. “Amy’s contributions to Sony Pictures,
across all our divisions, have been invaluable.”
    During the past five years combined, no studio has performed better in
North America than Sony Pictures Entertainment. Since January, 2002, the
studio has released 37 #1 films. Sony was #1 in market share in 2002 and

dollar mark in domestic box office sales between 2002 and 2006.
    To date this year, Sony has released 8 #1 films, including The Da Vinci
