Real Home Employment: Possible Or Not?<
> Planning Your Career

One of the most important decisions we make in our lives involves our careers. More than just having a job, a career is a life choice, a journey that we choose for ourselves for gainful employment and fulfillment of our lives. For many people, planning a career begins right after high school when deciding on which college to attend and what courses to take. For others, career planning takes place a little later in life, perhaps after having settled a family and a home.

Planning your career is not too dissimilar to planning a dinner party. There are preparations that need to be made if your dinner party is to be a success. The same preparations need to be made for your career. Look at your career as if it were a ladder, you dont start at the top of the ladder instantly, you work your way up from the bottom or near bottom to get to where you want to be - at the top.

One of the first decisions you need to make is to decide on the career you wish to follow. Researching the career field prior to any further decision making is key. Find out what necessary steps you will need to take in the way of education, certification and experience to get to the pinnacle of your career.

Talking with professionals in the career field of your choice can help you find out and decide which path is best for you to take on your way to the career of your dreams.
Careers, The Correct Qualifications

Knowing what those at the top of your chosen industry have accomplished in order to reach their positions will be one of the most helpful things you can do for your career. Getting these correct qualifications for yourself should be your first priority as far as achieving your goals.

Go online and look at resumes that are posted. Check out the bios of top CEOs. Read articles on the business and as many books as you can find on the industry in which you are interested. Because few people will follow the same path to the top, make a list of entry level, mid level, and upper level positions that different people in the business have acquired. You may find that it is easier to make your way into a related industry and then transfer over to your career of choice. By looking at what those who have come before have done, you can shape your path accordingly.

Education is the logical first step when training for a career. Online classes and night school have made it possible to train for a new career while maintaining your day job. In the event that you need a higher degree that you can’t get through the Internet, there are a variety of grants and loans available to fund your education. If you are confident that the career you are training for is really what you want and that this career will give you the funds to repay the steep fees for a higher degree, this may be the best choice. Networking in grad school may do more for your career than the classes you take.

On the other hand, hands on experience is a great teacher as well. Look for assistantships, internships, and volunteer work in the industry of your choice. You may find that another career is more to your liking. The process of acquiring the correct qualifications for a given career may show you a totally different career that you didn’t even know existed.

Yes, Virginia, there is such thing as real home employment. (You can breathe now.)

But to find it, you will need to do research and you will need to do a pros and cons list of every possible opportunity that you encounter because if you’re going to find something that you can be doing as 2007 rolls in, the program that you take up must MATCH your personality.

That’s right.

If you want real home employment, figure out who you are first. Are you a computer person? Do you see yourself taking surveys? Can you imagine yourself doing affiliate marketing?

This is a VERY IMPORTANT part of the process. You do not want to have to ADAPT to the program that you choose because the amount of time that it will take you to become profitable will be LONGER than with a program or opportunity that you feel is more in your ‘toolbox.’

Employment background checks are becoming increasingly common these days. The reasons for this include the fact that negligent hiring lawsuits that result from the actions of an errant employee can damage a company’s credibility and lead to hefty fines; companies have become more selective in their choice of employees following the threat of terrorist activities; accepting a resume at face value has resulted in many companies wasting time and money due to frequent hire-and-fire situations. Also, more companies are now conducting employee background checks as information from databases all over the world is available online. Employers are not bound to conduct an employment background check in all cases; however, federal and state laws make employment background checks compulsory for jobs that require interacting with children, the infirm, and the aged.

Information that can be included in an employment background check includes driving records, details of past employments, criminal records, military records, educational records, character references, and drug test records. However, background check companies that provide information to employers have to abide by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) which regulates the type and amount of information that an external agency can provide to an employer. Managing Unemployment By Managing Employment<
> Is this Career Right for Me?

Are you happy when you wake up in the morning knowing that you are going in to work? Do you feel as if you have hit your peak at your job? Can you honestly say that you love what you do? Some people can not answer these questions positively and if this is you, then you need to decide if the career you are in is right for you.

First off take the time to go over the different things that you like or love to do daily. Do any of those have anything to do with the career you are currently in? Most people pick careers according to what they liked to do either in school or outside of school. For instance, someone who loves to calculate things and look at problems from an analytical aspect may pursue a career in mathematics, accounting, or some other financial field. There are plenty of self assessing tests out there that will help you to pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses. People who more then likely dont like their careers probably consider it to be something that is mundane and repetitive. They begin to feel like robots in doing the same thing day to day. They need a little change in their lives and their current career doesnt provide them with any hope.

The key to any career path is to figure out what you like to do and apply it to a career. Take some of the tests that are out there to determine what career would be a good fit for you and try the careers that are in that category. If you find later on down the line you realize you made a mistake then slowly transition into a different career path. Trust me; its not the end of the world!

“I cannot believe she filed for unemployment! She didn?t show up to work for 3 days and then has the nerve to try to get ME for unemployment!” This is feedback Arizona PEOs commonly heard from employers not using professional HR consulting services.

Most Arizona employers, particularly those with a high turnover, are painfully familiar with the blue and white envelope sent out by the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES). That blue and white envelope contains a notice that a former employee has filed for unemployment insurance. Another painfully familiar part of the process is the disbelief that managers feel when they are notified that an employee who quit had the nerve to file for unemployment. How can managers effectively fight the increasing number of claims and protect their company?s experience rating? The best way to manage unemployment is by managing employees. (more…)

Youth Unemployment: A Serious Concern of Orissa<
> Career Planning and Me

Career planning is exactly what it sounds like: planning a career that makes the most of your interests and goals, suits your temperament, and maximizes your education. Traditionally done once at the beginning of adulthood, today this is a process that has become a lifelong endeavor as those in the workforce must keep up with the constant changes of the economy and the demands of our society.

It begins with assessing your current situation, not just financially or at work, but your personal state of mind as well. Do you enjoy organizing things or working within a certain time period and leaving it there when you go home? Are you better at leading people or working alone? Do you prefer to be outside or inside? Do you have political, religious, or moral beliefs that compel you to get involved in a certain field? Anything, absolutely anything that truly inspires you can be made into a career. But first you have to identify what it is that inspires you and why.

Next, take a look around. Is there a name for the job that you want to do or are you a pioneer in the field? Is there a company who is hiring or do you need to create your own? Research what is available, what is lacking, and what is related to what you want to do. Now take your research a step further. Try out an internship or a volunteer position, read books about those who have succeeded in your field, ask to shadow someone who does the job you’re aspiring for. Find out what others had to do to get to where you want to be: other jobs, experience, education. And then decide if it’s something that still interests you.

It’s best to follow these steps for more than one possible career choice, but not more than a few. Unless all of them bombs, you may very well find something that you’d like to try. Enroll in courses if need be or get your resume, interview outfit, and list of companies ready and start applying for entry level positions. Or both. And remember, nothing is ever set in stone. If this doesn’t work out after a few months or you decide you no longer like the career you’ve chosen a year later or 20 years later you can always go back to the drawing board and start again.

Youth have been recognized as ?the most vital section of the community?. Among the other problems, the youths of Orissa has been facing the unemployment problem In this article, we made an effort to carve some factual information on unemployment problem in Orissa. Besides that, we have also put some light on different issues, steps taken by the government and difficulties to achieve the goal. Above all this article will give you a transparent picture of youth in Orissa.

Not only our future economic soundness but the very soundness of our democratic institutions depends on the determination of our government to give employment to idle men.- Franklin D. Roosevelt

Whenever we are talking about economic development, we cannot ignore young generation. Youth have been recognized as ?the most vital section of the community?. Among the other problems, the youths of Orissa has been facing the unemployment problem. Life for a unemployed youth is very miserable in all aspects. They are in tremendous pressure from all sides. The question ?what are you doing?? without understanding the ground reality of employment opportunity questions the usefulness of his life. The problem lies with the high expectation of the family member and the society, who always nag him without knowing the mental tensions of the youth concerned and the situation around him. So the educated youth rushes after tuition for his livelihood forgetting almost all-important aspects of his life and getting less chance to think for the society and for himself too. Quite appropriately, the problem of youth unemployment has been recognized as an aspect of national unemployment problem. Educated youths have no stable and durable employment. An unemployed youth takes a long time to find work and secures it at an inadequate remuneration since job seekers far outnumber the available opportunities.

An Issue of Concern

Before we confine our self in Orissa, let us put some light on global figures. According to the report on Global Employment Trends for Youth 2004 by the International Labour Organisation, (ILO) Geneva, there are 184 million unemployed people around the world, and among them, 47 per cent are young persons. Around 88 million young people between the ages of 18-24 are unemployed worldwide. India accounts for a major chunk of Asia?s unemployed. By 2001, there were 212 million young people in India, but only 23.6 percent could be absorbed in the labour force. Simultaneously there?s been a marked decrease in the number of jobs on offer from the organized sector (less than 10 percent). As a result, the emphasis of job creation has shifted to the informal sector. As far as Orissa is concerned, growing educated unemployed youth is one of the burning issues of Orissa. According to 2001 census, 38.79% of total population, which accounts 142.76 lakh are total workers in Orissa. Out of the total number of workers, main workers account for 67.2%. The main workers comprise of agricultural labourers (21.9%), cultivators (35.8%), household industries workers (4.2%) and other workers (38.1%). When we calculate the unemployment figure in term of male and female population, 52.5% of the male population and 24.7 percent of female population are workers.

The total unemployment at the beginning of 2004-2005 was 9.97 lakhs. During the year, the additional labour force was 1.87 lakh and the employment generation of 1.94 lakh. So the unemployment (more…)

Career Planning Considerations

There are a variety of factors to take into consideration when choosing the path you will take toward a new career. You will need to assess what you already possess in terms of skills, education, and experience that will apply to your new career. Next, you should consider what you need to break into the industry. If you have what it takes to get into the industry or are already there, consider what you will need to move to the position that you want. Knowing yourself, your finances, and the industry youve chosen inside and out is essential to career planning. Here are a few questions to ask yourself.

Do you need a degree, a certificate, or a skill set that you can obtain through a class to succeed in your new career?

If so, do you have the time and money to finance this education? Can you take out loans, take your classes online, or take some time off work to get this education?

Do you need to be certified? If so, a very specific career path has most likely been mapped out and followed. Find out what others in your area have done, where they’ve gone to school, and where to register for the exam to pass your certification. This will save you a considerable amount of time as you research what you need to do.

Are you sure this career is what you want? Is the time and money invested in education and entry level positions worth it to you? Will the job pay enough money to finance the lifestyle you want to live? Are the day to day characteristics of your new career compatible with your temperament and values? Realistically assessing your interests and capabilities could save you years if you are honest and sure that you are choosing your new career for the right reasons.

The task of doing an employment research can be a daunting experience for many reasons. Fortunately, doing an employment search online is now easy with the help of Craigslist and other websites. If you want to extend your search, then you should start with these sites. You can then consider the many kinds of networks that fit your skill sets, income needs, and other particulars.

You have to realize that this quest can get intense. You can be overwhelmed by the agencies, advice, and attitudes that you encounter on an employment search. Luckily, you can ?narrow? your search and make your efforts pay off.

You should find job boards that have updated classified for employment in your area and in major companies you might be interested in working with. You should also consider your area of expertise and find companies who employ your type. You can also visit their help wanted/employment search/seeking XYZ pages.

For example, you should look for journalist, press, news, magazines, and periodical ads if you are a journalist. Websites such as NewsJobs.net offers postings for NewsJobs in the U.S., NewsJobs in Canada, and NewsJobs in the U.K.

Remember to be as be as thorough and thoughtful as you can, when you do an employment search on a major search engine. You have to pay full attention if you are typing in different and varied words and phrases when, you do an employment search online. For example, you should look for more than just carpenter jobs if you are a carpenter.

Try to type in all the variations you can think of for the word carpenter such as carpentry, builder, building, construction. Do the same with all the different words you can think of for jobs like careers, help wanted, needed, and places for. For instance, I found a great publication called Places for Writers which turned out to be places calling for submissions, not dens and coffee shops and what we would likely first think of when we read the word places.

You should also subscribe to newsletters in your field, if you are doing an employment search. Newsletters are one of the greatest cogs in the Internet machine. Webmasters use them to get visitors to their sites, and are valuable sources. They have advice columns, special interest sections, and calls for experts or job announcements that (more…)

Interview Techniques

Public speaking seems to be a problem with most people so it is no surprise that most people spend countless hours preparing for an interview as if they are going to speak in front of thousands of people.

Why is the Interview so Important?

Simply said; if you want the job then you better nail the interview. The interview is the gateway to having the job offered to you. If you are confident in your abilities and can vocalize them then you will more then likely receive and offer.

How can I prepare for the Interview?

First thing is to make sure you are well groomed. It is ok to dress up in a dark suit and matching tie for men or a nice dark business suit for women. Men should be clean shaven with a neat hair cut. Women should have their hair neat and also wear stockings and matching shoes. Heals are ok but not to the point where the woman seems awkward walking in them. Another thing you can do is practice what you are going to say to the interviewer in front of a mirror or other people.

Other Interview Techniques

Always shake the interviewers hand firmly, sit straight up, and pay attention. Always make sure to answer the interviewers questions accurately and concisely. It is a good idea to study about the companys history and current events just in case there is a mention of it. Always be prepared and do not let your eyes wander around the room. Do not bite your fingernails or show any signs of outward nervousness. The interviewer will read your body language and even though body language doesnt show your ability to perform a job, the interviewer will still take it into consideration.

The unemployment numbers have risen slightly and yet the economy seems fine although some things have changed. As an executive manager this figure is very important. If the figure goes too low you cannot find decent help to run your company and wages increase and that means it costs more money to produce your goods and services. If the unemployment is too high then no one has a job and cannot buy your goods or services and thus the unemployment numbers are very important indeed.

The unemployment numbers have given back 2% recently and gone from 4.6% to 4.8% which is still pretty low, but that is a big increase in one month. But why is this happening you ask? Well there are many factors too consider, such as college and High School summer labor is now out for summer and since they tend to work cheaper employers may wish to higher them instead. Then there is the issue with increased illegal aliens in the nation, more people same amount of jobs.

Equal Opportunity Employment. Know Your Rights!<

Ha! Don’t make me laugh. Ok, so perhaps I’m not being fair here because there have been some major strides forwards with regards to equal opportunity employment, but there’s still an awful lot of discrimination that goes on regardless.

One of the greatest achievements in recent times was the recognition of woman’s pay. It just didn’t make sense why a woman who did the same job as a man (often just as good if not better), got paid less money by her employer. How can or could anyone justify such a ludicrous setup? In the UK, there’s still a bit of legal wrangling going on over this but it’s pretty much sorted out now.

There have always been major issues with ageism too. To some degree I can understand this, as man in his 50’s or 60’s say, is just not going to be as fast or as strong to carry out heavy manual labor as a buck stud in his late teens. But with other types of work you would think experience would play a part, but there still seems to be a major problem regarding equal opportunity employment for the over 40’s. Some of this is due to the technological revolution where employers of these young dynamic companies fear that the older guys are too set in their ways to adapt to the ever changing technology.

Of course, no employers would admit to these prejudices otherwise they would (more…)

I have often felt that there are 2 types of mortgage companies and deciding which one you want to work for depends a lot on your goals and what you want to accomplish with your mortgage career. The first type of mortgage company will never teach you to be anything more then just a glorified telemarketer. While this can be a great platform to get your foot in the door and get a start in the mortgage business it is often hard to learn much other then being a glorified telemarketer.

The second type of mortgage company is my favorite and is the ideal situation if you want (more…)

Look Well Into the Future When Career Planning

Although the initial stages of career planning are crucial to success, looking well into the future when career planning is essential if that success is going to be maintained. Careers change, the market changes, the economy changes. If you want to make sure that you remain a hot commodity in your career, you need to make sure that you can roll with the punches.

The best way to look into the future, you must start by looking into the past. What have been the trends of your industry? Where has its competition come from in the past? What companies have survived and which haven’t? Why?

Next, look at the current state of the new industry in which you hope to work and ask the same questions. Choose case studies in the form of major companies. Find out who the key players are in these companies and check out their career path. What did they do after school and entry level positions? Read business journals and check out industry forums online. Where is the current threat coming from? What are people saying about the future of the industry? How will that affect your ability to get a job in your chosen career and keep it five, ten, twenty years down the road?

Now, look at both of these groups of facts and consider your future. What areas will you need to acquire frequent updates on information and skills in order to maintain your position and move up? A certain amount of critical thinking is necessary to prepare yourself for the possible twists and turns of the market as it concerns your chosen career. By assessing the past, taking note of the present, and planning for the future, you will have a much higher chance of not only holding onto your new career but excelling at it as well.

Flexibility in Employment Policy
Rapidly changing environment organizations require flexible employment policies to meet the needs of their business, The process of flexible employment policies can be described as the design, development and mainte?nance of a system of coordinated activities in which individuals and groups of people work cooperatively under leadership towards commonly understood and accepted goals, and these activities can be easily changed according to environmental changes.
The process of flexible employment policies involves the grand design or redesign of the structure, but most frequently it is concerned with the organization of particular func?tions and activities and the basis upon which the relationships between them are managed. The organizations are not static thing. Changes are constantly taking place in the organization itself, in the environment in which it operates, and in the people who work with. According to the recent surveys: “Some of the larger countries, such as Germany and Italy, have experienced a growth of more flexible forms of employment, while in France, Spain and the United Kingdom the growth of flexibility has been outpaced by the growth of “standard” forms of employment” (7th European Regional Meeting in Budapest, 2005).
Flexible workforce can be illustrate as multiple job holding and rigid formal relations, a greater incidence of part-time. For instance, Viacom, the giant media company, follows flexible employment policies in order to meet the needs of its customers and employees, and remain profitable in hugely competitive environment. Demographic changes in the society forces Viacom to find new ways in planning and organizing activities, taking into account flexible employment policies and their impact on leading and controlling processes. Successful flexible employment policies is important for Viacom because it plays a major and continuing role in the lives of people, especially with the growth of large-scale business organisations and the divorce of own ership from management.

Steady Employment after (marketing career training) Training<

Steady Employment after Training<
> Starting a New Career

Starting a new career can be a daunting venture, especially when you have acquired a lifetime’s worth of financial responsibilities and obligations. Nothing, however, is impossible, no matter how strapped for time and money you are currently. All it takes is a well thought out plan and diligence and you can soon be starting a new career.

First, think very seriously about what you want to do. Why have you chosen this new career? Is it completely different from what you are doing now? Are there aspects of your current job that apply to your new career as far as contacts, experience, or education? Does this new career require learning a whole new skill set and industry or is it a matter of upgrading your education to the next level? Make a list of all the assets you already possess that you can bring to a new career. Include personal skills and qualifications as well as natural instincts and inclinations. Some things can’t be taught and if you have a natural predilection for the skills needed for your new career, this may take you further than you think.

Next, determine the steps you will need to take in order to arrive at a position in your new career. To help you do this, talk to people currently working the job you have chosen. How did they get where they are? Would they have done anything differently? Do they have any recommendations? Do you need a degree? Online classes and schools are all over the internet and will allow you to study while keeping your job. Do you need an apprenticeship to establish yourself? Try and find one that pays you. Even a small stipend can help you offset financial costs at home.

With planning and patience, you can start a new career without putting your current home situation at risk. Take one step at a time and allow yourself as long as it takes to complete it before going on to the next one. Your new career isn’t going to disappear while you spend time properly preparing for it.

One of the key benefits of training through the National Heavy Equipment Operators School is the sheer abundance of employment opportunities that you will enjoy afterward. It’s hardly a secret that the economy in the United States has seen better days; the cost of living has skyrocketed, and with wages largely remaining stagnant, it has become increasingly difficult to stretch a dollar and make ends meet. There just aren’t as many good jobs out there as there have been in the past.

Be that as it may, there is one industry that has demonstrated a sustained, regular growth regardless of the economic climate. The construction industry has remained the largest service industry in the United States for years, and this trend shows little sign of abating. As the majority of people in this country can attest, constructions projects of various shapes and sizes are always in effect. Road crews routinely perform street maintenance. State and local governments employ heavy equipment operators for everything from road clearing to strip mining. Some major metropolitan areas are even in the midst of multi-year, multi-billion dollar highway renovation projects.

With the amount of money that is being dedicated to these construction projects, not just anybody is selected to work on them. Private companies and governmental agencies want to be assured that only the best-qualified applicants are selected to operate the heavy machinery in use. Here, the National Heavy Equipment Operators School can help you to differentiate yourself from the others. While many people believe that experience in the construction field is the only qualification that matters, the influx of construction projects and heavy equipment needs has changed the climate somewhat. Our program at National is the only accredited heavy equipment training program in the country, and thus a certificate of successful completion is highly regarded and respected in the industry. Simply put, our training program will help you get started in the heavy equipment field.

The training course itself at National is convenient and thorough. It is divided into one half home schooling and one half on-site equipment training at our facility in North Florida. The cost and time commitment for the successful completion of our program is comparatively minimal, and yet the benefits of it can be tremendous. With the right combination (more…)

When we are under stress, we start to experience wide swings in mood. In a new relationship, for example, we are ecstatic when the telephone rings, depressed and tearful when we don’t hear anything for two or three days. When we are ill, we are elated when tests come back negative, fearful and exhausted when a problem is identified. Working under a demanding tyrant, we are upbeat with any hint of praise and despondent when the inevitable criticism splashes in our faces.

The pervasiveness of being out of work touches so many parts of our lives: our finances, our family, our egos, and our inner sense of self. Because the anxiety of unemployment reaches to the core of our comfortable lifestyles, we suffer from a changing array of intense emotional ups and downs.

Some kind of emotional balance is necessary if we are to stay healthy, maintain our relationships, and be able to effectively function in job search. Reaching such a balance is difficult and made more so by our own inner turmoil. How do we re-establish that balance that will make us feel like our old selves, whole, optimistic, and complete?

Here are a couple of strategies to try.

1. Regain a broader perspective.

When we are confronted by a host of problems, we tend to put on blinders and only see the obstacles that are staring us in the face. We lose touch with what else is happening in the greater world we inhabit. Our conversation narrows to the one subject that dogs us night and day - the need to find work. Friends become bored with our egocentric outlook and relationships suffer from our obsession with our present misfortune. We may become prickly because of the fear and anger we are experiencing. We may still harbor anger at being laid off and our bitterness seeps into the affectionate ties we have with others.

Despite the discomfort and dangers of your present situation, (more…)

The best way to look into the future, you must start by looking into the past. What have been the trends of your industry? Where has its competition come from in the past? What companies have survived and which haven’t? Why?

10 Questions an Interviewer May Ask

Once upon a time job interviews were comprised of a conversation between interviewer and interviewee and based on this conversation, the job seeker was either hired or sent on their way. Within the context of this conversation, questions were asked, but today much of the conversation has disappeared as more and more interviewers are using custom made interview forms. Some of the questions you may encounter include:

1. What is your greatest strength?

2. What is your greatest weakness?

3. Why did you leave your last job?

4. What did you like most about your last job?

5. What did you like least about your last job?

6. How did you solve a problem regarding an angry or dissatisfied customer?

7. How do you handle stress?

8. What would your previous co-workers say about you?

9. Give an example of your ability to make decisions under pressure.

10. Why do you want to work for this company?

There are many variations on the above questions but most of these are pretty standard. Of course, work experience is a given and some employers want to know if you smoke. Often, employers ask questions they are not supposed to ask but it is usually career suicide if you bring up that fact.

The best thing you can do to prepare yourself for any interview is to find out everything you can about the company you are applying for. In addition, make sure you have all the dates clear as to where you worked and how long you worked there. Even if you have already sent a resume take one to the interview with you so that you can glance at it if you need to. Above all, be on time and be prepared!

One of the most frustrating parts of running a business for many business owners and manager is finding the right employees. A vacancy opening usually leads to plenty of applicants, but finding the candidate that not only possesses the right combination of skills, experience and education as well as has important qualities as teamwork, initiative and loyalty can be a difficult task to manage.

When faced with the prospect of recruiting new employees, there are a variety of ways that you can go about it. One of the most common ways to approach the matter is to post classified listings and help-wanted signs; however, you should be aware that this method has its disadvantages. One of the biggest disadvantages of this method is that it will generally net a wider range of applicants than you might have in mind. This means that you’re going to need to spend quite a bit of time going through resumes and applications, weeding out those applicants who do not meet (more…)

D Our lives are tranquil and smooth so seldom, it seems. We have our ups-and-downs, our good days and bad days, our sunny moods and black moods. The less we swing in opposite directions, the happier we tend to be. The biology of our bodies craves balance and consistency — changes in our thought patterns and emotions interrupt the regularity of our nerve pathways leading to chemical inbalance and internal disturbances.

Stress kills because stress is the critical determinant of how we think, how we feel, how we react: all activities which terribly upset that silent body chemistry. Events cause stress: the death or illness of a loved one, fear of terrorism, divorce, exposure to violence or a personal attack, financial setbacks, loss of a job.

We cannot remove the event: it happened. We cannot control the stress: our bodies have already reacted. We can only control our mind and use its enormous power to move ourselves back closer to normalcy and serenity.

Unemployment plays havoc with our emotional system. We rapidly cycle through anger at what has happened, grief at what we have lost, fear of what lies ahead, and recurrent shockwaves of shame, anxiety, and despair. (more…)

- The online bingo industry is a rapidly growing phenemon and it brings with it more than just online bingo games, it also creates a new trend in employment. Online bingo websites employ thousands of people as Chat Hosts, who manage and oversee the chat rooms that players frequent while they are playing bingo. This unique new trend in employement provides an alternative employment opportunity for those who are not able to work in a traditional workplace.

Mary (not her real name) is a prime example of how the online bingo employment boom works to the advantage of thousands of people. She had a steady job in a bakery until 3 years ago when she fell down a flight a stairs and seriously injured her spine. She has been in rehabilitative therapy, but is not able to stand on her feet all day as required in her old job.

During her free time, Mary plays online bingo at www.bingopalace.com. She doesn’t play daily, but she plays frequently enough that she knows many of the players and all the chat hosts at the site. On a whim, unable to continue working in the bakery, she inquired about employment as a chat host with the site. She has since joined thousands of others like her, working in the online bingo industry and finds it suits her limitations and lifestyle.

Mary says: “I honestly didn’t think I would ever be able to find a job that would accept my limitations, but Bingopalace.com has allowed me to hold down a full time job and earn a decent living. I love being a chat host and would urge anyone who is in my kind of situation to do the same.”

Mary’s situation illustrates the underground employment boom occuring in the online bingo sector. It demonstrates the power of the internet and provides a glimpse of how people will be employed in the future. Call it telecommuting at its finest. All Mary needs is a working computer and a stable internet connection. She can live anywhere in the world and is a work for hire employee responsible for her own tax obligations. The employer doesn’t need to provide office space or incur any of the typical overhead costs associated with direct employees. Mary receives a work schedule and reports to the site when required to work her shift and although she is monitored by a supervisor, she is basically working autonomously. It is a unique employment option for those who are not able to work in a traditional workplace.

DA certain amount of oversight is involved in almost any job. The more important, the more highly skilled, the more successful the position, the lower the degree of oversight. At the bottom rung of the economic and social ladder - the laborers, the maids, the easily replaceable positions - the more watchful are the powers that be, the less secure are the workers, the more personally vulnerable are they to any mistakes made.

When money or similar valuables are intermixed with poorly paid employees, the level of oversight reaches outsized and intrusive proportions. Diamond workers in South Africa submit to body cavity searches after every shift, a humiliation society normally limits to convicted felons or known drug traffickers.

In the United States, low-level workers in finance and banking are closely observed for cash or figure discrepancies. Too many errors lead inevitably to termination. The larger the amounts of money involved, the more significant the mistakes become. A fast food register a few cents out of balance differs markedly from a bank cashier imbalance of several hundred dollars.

The more pure cash is involved, the more difficulty there is in tracing a paper trail of transactions to establish where a discrepancy occurred. I just returned from three days in Las Vegas, the American capital of cash. Surely nowhere else in the country handles the thousands of hundred dollar bills that change hands in that town, to the tune of several billion dollars annually.

Finding Employment When You’re Just Starting Out If it’s your first job out of high school, college, or university, you might be perplexed as to how .

Pre-Employment Screening at CriminalData.com<

Which Direction For My Career

There comes a time for most people when they ask themselves about which direction they should take for their career. For some, this question is asked before their career even begins, perhaps even before entering college.

In most cases, the sooner you can decide on the direction that you would like to take your career, the better. Forethought and planning can help make the decision making process easier earlier on in your career. The first thing you need to remember is that you will likely not start off at the top of the ladder, but rather that you will need to work your way up to your goal career position.

One of the primary considerations when deciding on the directionality of your career is education requirements. Are there special degrees or certificates that you will need to advance your career and where are they available? Time may be a factor, especially if you are already working in the career field of your choice. There may be options of night schools or correspondence courses to get the degrees and certificates necessary to advance your career.

By defining your goals as clearly as possible, armed with information, you can set a course for career fulfillment and find a time frame that will suit your needs and career advancement.

Deciding on the direction you would like to take your career in is not an easy decision to make, nor one you should make hastily. Take your time and clearly define where you want to be in one year, three years, five years and ten years. Research for information to help you understand what you will need to accomplish to meet these goals.

Workers Sue Government Over Alleged Tactics in Immigration Raid
Workers at a Minnesota meatpacking plant are suing the U.S. government over the alleged abusive and illegal tactics used during an immigration raid, lawyers said Tuesday. Agents hurled insults at Hispanic workers, ordered female Hispanic workers to disrobe and “otherwise insulted, abused, and humiliated the plaintiffs on account of their race” during a raid at the Swift & Co. plant, says the federal lawsuit by Centro Legal, an immigrant rights group. The 10 plaintiffs continue to work at the plant.

Employment prospects were bright in the Asia Pacific region for the first quarter of 2006 as well as in North America, but it was expected to be an up and down three months for most of Europe, according to news reports on June 29 this year.

This was the conclusion bared by Manpower Inc. following a survey of 23 countries in different continents. The Employment Outlook survey covered 45,000 employers. Overall, it reported that employers in nine or 23 countries and territories were expected to add to their workforces in the first quarter of 2006. On the other hand, it also said that 11 of the 23 countries and territories reported weaker employment prospects compared to the same period in 2005.

The strongest hiring expectations were reported by employers in India, New Zealand, Taiwan, the United States and Australia. In contrast, employers in 14 countries, mostly in Europe, reported weaker employment prospects. The weakest hiring prospects were reported by employers in Germany, Austria and Italy.

In Austria, employers reported a negative Net Employment Outlook (NEO) for the first time since the first quarter of 2004, while employers in Italy have not been this pessimistic since the survey started in that country in the third quarter of 2003. The study conducted over 11,000 interviews across 12 European labor markets to measure anticipated employment trends for the first quarter of 2006.

The survey revealed continued buoyant hiring activity in the USA and Canada.

1. They don’t have an experienced contract lawyer evaluate their contract.

Do not entrust your physician employment contract to your local general practitioner. While there are some similarities to general contracts and physician contracts, you should have an attorney who has extensive experience reviewing physician contracts. There are more differences than similarities and an experienced lawyer will be able to spot them and correct them before they cause harm.

You wouldn’t want a family practitioner performing coronary artery bypass surgery on you unless that physician has had years of training and fellowship in that field of medicine. The same holds true for lawyers.

2. A young doctor is money-conscious and is afraid to spend money to hire a lawyer.

The common thinking is that if they can save a few dollars by not having to pay a lawyer, then they’re ahead of the game. Wrong. That’s what you call ‘penny-wise and pound (more…)

ERISA, Local Health Care Laws Clash
In recent years, some states and municipalities have become laboratories for experiments in mandating that businesses provide affordable health coverage for employees — with employers fighting back in court. At the core of each challenge is the issue of whether the Employee Retirement Income Security Act pre-empts local action. Now California is set to debate a health care system overhaul that would require employer contributions, and which already has businesses and consumers lining up on opposing sides.

If you want to get involved in the game of golf, there are several ways to do it. Most people love to play the game during their free time. Others, however, love golf enough to want to make a career out of it. The game of golf has exploded in popularity in recent years and it seems that just about everyone wants to learn to play. By taking golf employment as a certified golf teacher, you can get a piece of the action and have a rewarding career. The teaching industry is growing just as quickly as the golf industry and because of that, new jobs are being created every day. At local country clubs, golf clubs, and municipal clubs all over the country, dedicated people are being hired based upon their enthusiasm and ability to teach. As a spin-off of this, the golf industry has created job opportunities for other people, including golf specific retailers, golf club repairmen, and even golf club fitters. All of these people are employed for a reason. The game of golf is reaching people like never before and it is about time you got a cut of the action.

As a golf teacher, your responsibilities will likely fall on helping golfers improve their game. Generally, you will have the chance to deal with young and new golfers in addition to those who just need a little reassurance. Those guys who are good enough to play professionally generally go to big-name swing coaches or a golf academy in order to get their training. Therefore, in the position of golf teacher at your country club, you will have a chance to make a real impact on a grass roots level. If this sounds like something that interests you, you should work on getting the necessary training.

As the industry has grown recently, the money available for golf employment positions has also grown. Good golf teaching professionals are able to charge a very good rate for their services. Generally, those looking to gain lessons and take in your expertise will have the resources to pay you well. ESPN has said that being a Sports center anchor is America’s dream job, but golf teaching professionals all over the country would probably argue against that adamantly.

Teaching golf is the top growing opportunity in golf employment. Whether you are interested in making money or simply in making a difference for other people, teaching will afford you that opportunity. The timing is great to jump into the industry as it continues to grow by leaps and bounds. With new television deals for the professional golf tours and golfers like Tiger Woods continuing to carry the game into the 21st century, it is apparent that there is an ongoing interest in the game of golf, and it is here to stay.

Take some of the tests that are out there to determine what career would be a good fit for you and try the careers that are in that category. If you find later on down the line you realize you made a mistake then slowly transition into a different career path. Trust me; its not the end of the world!

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ohio Employee Confidence
Index reached a new high for 2006, increasing 3.5 points to 58.8 in
December, according to the Spherion(R) Employment Report. The monthly
survey conducted by Harris Interactive(R) on behalf of Spherion
Corporation, shows that the increase was due to a higher percentage of
workers reporting confidence in job availability and their ability to find
a job.
Results from the Ohio Employment Report:
     * Twenty-seven percent of workers believe that more jobs are available,
compared to 21 percent in November.

     * The percentage of workers’ reporting confidence in their ability to
find a new job increased nine percentage points to 58 percent in
       December.

     * The percentage of workers reporting optimism in the future of their
current employers remained unchanged at 67 percent in December.
“Ohio workers’ optimism is in line with what we are seeing in our job
market,” said Robert Schulte, Spherion franchise owner in Ohio. “There are
a lot of opportunities for qualified workers, especially in legal,
accounting and finance, technology and those with lean and six sigma
manufacturing experience. Our clients are also starting to realize that top
talent is much harder to come by, consequently reacting by shortening their
internal hiring process and requesting that references and background
checks be completed upfront. Heading forward, I expect that
service-providing industries will grow and the demand for workers in the
healthcare industry will rise.”

Employment Dilemma: Do You Choose The Company Or The Job?<

Have you ever been faced with the dilemma of being offered an uninspiring job within a great company? What do you choose the company or the job?

I have seen many a fashion hopeful faced with this exact dilemma. Being offered a job you feel does not meet your needs for mental stimulation or is below your expertise level can often be something you would turn down right? Wrong! When the company has so much to offer let me give you some good reasons for taking the risk!

Job security is one of the most important factors to consider when you change jobs. There is no point in taking a role within an organisation that can?t support you or worst still probably can?t pay you! Just to have the glory of the job title or job is not enough. Do your research and ensure that the prospect you are investigating is within a business of security.

Future potential and growth is essential. Working for a company that has the ability to offer you future roles within their structure to enhance your career is a huge draw card. Look into the future and plan your 5 and 10 year goals. Assess whether the companies present structure or future plans will accommodate this. For this reason alone choosing the company over the job can put you exactly where you want to be in a relatively short space of time. It is worth the time investment!

Having the prestige of working for a market innovator or well known brand can set you up for life. Consider the brand and business reputation over the job. You may find that working for a market leading company will open new horizons for you through networking and business contacts or simply your next employer will fall head of heals for the knowledge and experience you gained by working for a market leader.

What ever you decide make sure you decide with commitment. If the job is below your expertise level ensure that you plough energy into everyday so it is not obvious to your boss. By showing energy and initiative the promotions will come! If you take the negative approach and feel the role is below you it will show and you may loose the opportunity to work for an exceptional company and get to where you want to get to!

Self-employment: A Career Choice For Introverts<

Despite the hard work and moments of uncertainty, many self-employed people feel their career choice gives them a freedom and sense of fulfillment few cubicle careers can compare with. Unfortunately, introverts are sometimes hesitant to consider starting a business because of the socializing involved in marketing and networking. With the right planning, though, you don?t need to be a social butterfly to run a successful business. If you?re tired of being told you?re ?too shy? to be self-employed, here are some tips for you.

Be realistic about time management

Before you fall in love with a business idea, make sure the lifestyle it requires is truly compatible with your personality. There?s no sense in setting up a business only to get burned out six months later. Take an honest look at how much ?recharging? time you need to be at peak performance and schedule for that time. Calculate your work hours and fees such that you won?t feel pressed to work yourself to a frazzle. For example, you might love tutoring kids, but if you need to do it eight hours a day, five days a week in order to turn a profit, will you still be able to teach as well as you know you can?

Identify your ideal customer

This is important for any business, but it goes double for introverts. It?s not just about identifying who?s most likely to buy from you, but also the kind of personalities you genuinely enjoy being around. Working with people you like can be draining enough; you don?t need to be working with people you don?t like on top of that. Depending on your market and location, though, to be profitable you may need to find a compromise between the people you really want to work with and people who are easy to reach and can afford to do business with you.

For many people, planning a career begins right after high school when deciding on which college to attend and what courses to take.

Marketing Yourself

When you’re self employed, you have to learn how to market
yourself. For others to use your services, buy your products, or
hire you, marketing yourself is the answer. No matter what kind
of self employment you may be pursuing, whether it is work from
home jobs, a business web site that you are running, a physical
business you have started, or product you’re selling, you have to
market yourself and your services to others. You want people to
be able to find you and to take advantage of what you have to
offer. After all, how else can you make money? Marketing yourself
is very important, and a constant project in self employment.

You want to start with a great web site. Your web site is
extremely important, no matter what kind of self employment you
are pursuing. To learn more about your web site, read
Creating a
Business Web Site
.

Your web site allows customers to find you, and seek out the
services that you provide.

In business, word of mouth is extremely important, and a great
marketing tool. Make sure you have some business references that
you know will speak well on your behalf. Do your best to provide
your best efforts to every single customer, even for the most low-
paying jobs and projects. Low-paying jobs could lead to much
higher-paying gigs in the future, so it’s important to treat
every job and every customer as though it is the only job or
customer.

Always keep up on what’s happening in the business world.
Whatever field you are involved in, know what the competition is
doing and know what jobs are out there. Even if you feel that you
have enough work, look at potential work opportunities. You never
know what you will find, but you will not find anything if you
aren’t actively looking.

In addition to the medical and emotional issues one must deal with after having breast cancer, some other issues breast cancer survivors must deal with are health insurance and employment discrimination. As much as people want to deny the problem, there is discrimination against people who have had cancer. Hard to believe, since having cancer can really make a person stronger and more focused, but it happens. So this article will discuss some issues and approaches to take to deal with discrimination not only with employment, but with insurance.

It is very important NOT to let your insurance lapse after having cancer. Your current insurance company cannot drop your coverage after having a life threatening illness like cancer, but many insurance companies WILL NOT let someone who has had a life threatening illness start a policy with them or they will cover you, but NOT in the event of a recurrence. Changing insurance coverage through a job change will usually be ok, but you will need to check to make sure. Also, if you quit your job or leave for any reason, it’s usually a good idea to continue your coverage through COBRA until you have a new job or coverage through other means. It can be expensive, but worth it in the event of any health problems. Also, it is harder to get other types of insurance coverage, like life and disability after having breast cancer.

In terms of employment, everyone must make a decision to tell or not tell co-workers about having cancer. It is technically against the law to discriminate against the handicapped. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) extended this to the private sector. Cancer and other diseases fall under this law. If you have issues at your job due to the effects of your cancer treatment, your employer must make accommodations for you. But the truth is that many employers will find other ways to discriminate against workers who have had cancer, so be on your guard.

One of the most overlooked aspects of employment services in the United Kingdom and Europe is the level of customer service they provide. Graduates and professionals in all industries are more concerned with finding the right employment connection as quickly as possible, for financial and personal reasons. Companies, in a similar way, often place a premium on efficiency and time budgeting than a friendly smile from their recruiting manager. All in all, recruiting agencies can afford to be more businesslike than other companies in the course of their daily work.

However, the employment services that go that extra mile for their customer while working with a smile on their face are the most successful ones. While companies and professionals mentioned above may be more concerned about the bottom line than kind service from recruiters, they do take notice of exceptional service. Though service with a smile is low on the priority list for everyone involved, successful agencies strive for friendly service to ensure the comfort of their clients. Those looking for an effective employment service with a smile should consult with ITS European.

ITS European opened its doors in 1992, serving the IT professional needs of companies in southeastern England. The agency has specialized in finding IT professionals of all experience levels for companies of all sizes. Over its fourteen-year existence, ITS European has expanded to deal with permanent and contract IT positions in the United Kingdom and Europe. The difference between ITS European and other agencies is the experienced, talented, and enthusiastic recruiting staff that make the perfect connection between employers and employees. Many of these recruiters have experience in the IT field and have an awareness of the types of skills needed for success. These recruiters have the ability to speak a multitude of languages, including Russian and Finnish, which makes the lines of communications with companies on the continent a lot clearer. In all, the difference for clients and applicants alike is in the skills of every ITS European recruiter.

Alternative Employment Guide Says, “Build Your Dream Team!”<

The big news is there’s now an alternative employment guide that can show you how to bypass all the old-fashioned traditional job search methods. You know, the ones that tell you have to rely on your resume to get you a job.

If you’ve been in the job market a while–stuck in place without finding a job–then you know what I mean when I say to old ways just don’t work anymore.

Oh sure, there was a time when you could depend on your resume to get the job done. There was a time when your resume counted for something. Of course, that was during the time before the internet with its many job sites like Monster and HotJobs. That was a time before there were literally millions of resumes in circulation with hundreds being sent to a single advertised job opening.

Today’s sophisticated job market requires an alternative employment guide . . . one that accounts for the way real hiring decisions are being made. Today’s employers could care less what your resume says or what you used to do for someone else. They have different standards and different expectations that simply cannot be addressed by a piece of paper.

If you recognize the significance of this shift, then you’ll also understand the need for an alternative employment guide–one that takes into account employers 21st Century expectations.

For example, employers expect you to come forward in your job search having done your homework. They expect that you’ve taken the time to learn about their organization and its goals. The also expect that you’ve found it important enough to discover what make them tick.

So, how do you do that?

The answer is by building a dream team. Instead of wasting your time writing and rewriting your resume and mass distributing it, you focus your attention on assembling a group of people who can be in a position to assist you. We call it developing “career partners.” It’s one of the many exciting non-traditional job search strategies that’s part of an alternative employment guide.

You see, the most important job search resource is not your resume, or cover letter, or advertised job openings or agencies or recruiters. Your most productive resource is people you already know–your contacts. All you have to do is put them to work for you. And when you do it the right way, you’ll find that your job search suddenly becomes a cinch.

In fact, you’ll find your job campaign taking off. Following the recommendations of our alternative employment guide means that you can be meeting face-to-face with hiring decision-makers in a matter of days. You can be entertaining a job offer in as little as two weeks. Alternative job search strategies rule!
